Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

The Walnut School Staff hopes that you had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. BPUSD will begin this school year with remote instruction through the District’s distance learning model based on an extensive review of state and county public health guidelines and continued discussions with the education community regarding the steep acceleration in COVID-19 cases and community spread within Los Angeles County, and more specifically, the City of Baldwin Park. I am sensitive and aware of our current reality of COVID-19 and the impact and uncertainties that lay ahead and with every step,  I will be there to guide our school community.

The Family Handbook can be accessed on this school website. Thank you for taking the time to review this information to learn more about our school policies and procedures such as: schedules, school uniform, visitors on campus, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and other information. Our home/school communication includes: a monthly family calendar, automated phone calls, school marquee updates, and flyers/notices of events and other important announcements throughout the school year.

I am honored to be a part of the amazing team of educational professionals at this school. We are eager to partner with you and your child in making this an outstanding year of learning. Our theme this year is “Great Habits Make Great Leaders!”. We will make sure that learning is engaging and meaningful for every student. We will spend time with our students, getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. We will celebrate their successes, small and large. As we move further into the 21st century, our school strives to provide a strong academic and social environment that will prepare our students for their educational journey into college and career success. Our school has a tradition of high expectations, rigorous learning goals, and positive social/emotional activities. For us to continue that success, we value your partnership, as it is essential in providing the best possible education for your child.  Every student deserves a quality education and that only happens when the school and the families work together in the best interest of our students.  We will encourage them and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school.

Sincerely,

Principal Peregrina
